Our Purpose

“Our uprising is against a cultural mind-set that twists the purpose and potential of the teen years and threatens to cripple our generation. Our uprising won’t be marked by mass riots and violence, but by millions of individual teens quietly choosing to turn the low expectations of our culture upside down.”

Setting the Example was started and authored by 3 friends with the goal of blogging about youth setting the example in their local church. It follows the command from 1 Timothy 4: 12 which says “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example, in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” We believe that young Christians should do more than just ride along with the waves of life. The youth should actively pursue godliness. Far to often the youth think that they are unnecessary in the Church, but they fail to realize the we are the future of the church and we give hope to the elderly. Being young gives us a great opportunity to show the power of Christ in us. Why? Because most people don’t expect much from teenagers. It’s a sad truth, but gives us the opportunity to push past those expectations and be the example for those to come.

By starting this blog we wish to push past expectations and hope to set a example to our fellow believers. Although “Setting an Example” will be primarily authored by “3 Friends” we wish to invite other youth to also join us with being the youthful example in the church.

I exhort you to go beyond what’s required and expected by the world! Set a new higher expectation. Dare to raise the status quo, to the glory of God alone

““The teen years are not a vacation from responsibility. … They are the training ground of future leaders who dare to be responsible now”.
